The Movie, The Song

I know I've been MIA for a while, but I've been busy!!  I've been meaning to blog about this past Thursday night since, well uh, Thursday!  So finally I've had a chance to sit down and do this.

Some of you out there know that music is an important element in my life.  A few years ago, I decided to start facing the fears I had that kept me from sharing my music with people.  Finding the courage to face those fears was a long, long process.

From that journey came one of my songs, "She Says, He Says".  (you can hear it here)  It was the first song I wrote that meant something to me.  It was the first song I finished the music and words.  It was the first song I ever played live in front of people.  It was the song that brought me to Craig when I was looking for someone to produce and record it (who helped make it come alive in a way I never could have).  This is my BABY!

It's interesting how I helped create and nurture it, then picked the right person to help me complete it, and now it's out there in the world...  just like a kid growing into an adult and now it's creating a life of it's own.

I while back, Jason Allen, asked me if he could use it in his film, References.  Really?  My song in a movie?!  Of course he could use it!

Well, Thursday night was the movie premier, and it was a very fun experience to say the least. First of all, the movie was very good (a cute romantic comedy with a great soundtrack).  A lot of talent came together to create this film.  I was a little surprised to find that my song played during the closing credits.  The entire song!!  It was so super cool to hear it pumped through the speakers in a real movie theater.  That's right folks... this was no little mom and pop joint. We were at Harkins, where they play the big studio films.  Crazy cool!

There will be a video coming out very soon for this song too (another crazy thing I thought I would never do).  I'll post it when it's completed.  But for now, here's a picture of Craig and I after the video shoot by Shelley Welander.  I love this shot!

Don't ever let your fears stop you from doing what you love!!
